May 10, 2010
The Dean opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. of the Executive Committee of Christ Church Cathedral. Present were Dean Munroe, Canon DeVine, Senior Warden Burt Hansen, Treasurer Susan Forrest, Clerk Susan Walbridge; Roland Holstead, Price Ray, Mark Giddings, José Reyes, Mary Wood, Mark Betsher and Peter Beardsley.
- Dean Munroe opened with prayer and meditation, talked about Confirmation and Holy Communion, and showed us excerpts from the movie Places in the Heart and concluded with prayer.
- Minutes of the Executive Meeting of March 8, 2010: upon motion duly made and seconded, the minutes of the last meeting were unanimously accepted.
- Susan Forrest reviewed the March report. Susan reported pledges are ahead of schedule due in part to a large prepayment and reception of Trustee Endowment payment, and we had less expenses.
- Loaves and Fishes.
Further discussion took place on whether Loaves and Fishes would stay at the Cathedral. Options were discussed as follows: 1. one meal or two meals and various activities; 2. leaving the Cathedral; and 3. if Loaves and Fishes were to leave, what would we do with the space.
The following comments were made:
Wonderful ministry;
Loitering;
Might be necessary to move;
Ministry of community as important as food;
Christ Church Cathedral a great location;
Keep in downtown if they want to move if it is best for them;
Make space available to other groups;
Christ Church Cathedral has a good relationship with Loaves and Fishes;
City is not in favor of Loaves and Fishes at Christ Church Cathedral;
Problems with drug deals, prostitution and one serious fight;
Keep here, people need to eat, we care about brothers and sisters;
Suggested that volunteers speak at an Adult Forum about their experiences.
More to be discussed at the next Executive Committee meeting.
